There couldn’t be much more room in there… we packed it in good and tight.
And now, in all sorts of the most convenient we pick a spot and stick to it… to move would be silly… so we don’t. We just sit and wait until it stops kicking.
This must be what it feels like….
Digestion music can be a tricky affair… anything too sweet and you lose the taste you enjoyed so much… too fast and you will pull a muscle struggling to get up and change the tune… too slow and you’ll be out like a light within seconds…
I went for a Jazzy plate of Bill Evans.
It seems jazz is good digestion music, it sounds like what you feel… especially after those big meals when the car feels noticeably heavier on the drive home from the restaurant… BIG meals.
Bass lines going one way… piano the other… and just when you think things have calmed down a crash laden drum roll mixes the whole thing up again. You ain’t moving… just let it work itself out. Bill Evans is creating waves of sound around Eddie Gomez…. the bass colliding with a barrage of rich piano chords… Morell takes his time… holding off in the back… clean breaks and a slow build up… before you know it he is in.. and the mixer does the rest… the flow is just right.
You may be uncomfortable but you know it was worth it… this IS good digestion music…
… feels as good as it sounds…. sounds as good as it feels.
But i guess that depends how good the food was… and whether Bill hits a bad chord!
